ENERGY CONVERSION
Below are examples of energy conversion taking place.
- EXAMPLE 1
In this example, we can find initally the cyclist has kinetic energy since he is moving. As he goes higher uphill, all the kinetic energy is gradually converted into gravitational potential energy. This implies his speed is minimum at the top of the hill. However, as he starts going downwards, all the potential energy starts getting converted gradually back to kinetic energy.
- EXAMPLE 2
In the example above, the moving cone of a speaker is used to produce sound waves. Electrical energy flowing through the wires of the speaker is used to produce mechanical energy by moving the cone at different extent. This mechanical energy is converted into sound energy.
- EXAMPLE 3
In the above picture, it can be observed that cold water is being heated by the sun. Therefore, the heat energy from the sun is used to heat the water and further increase the kinetic energy of the vbbrating particles of water.
